Wake me up inside
Call my name and save me from the dark
Bid my blood to run
Before I come undone
Save me from the nothing I’ve become

Evanescence- Bring me to Life.

Night came quickly to Godrevy. For a brief moment, the sun hung tantalisingly above the horizon, an actor flirting with our senses, resplendent in her fiery cloak. A final dramatic flourish before the curtain call. And then she was gone. As quickly as a snap of my fingers. Seemingly sucked over the abyss as every colour in the world suddenly raced to join her, jostling and squealing and bumping against the clouds, drawn by her siren call. A headlong rush of orange and magenta and crimson hues lighting the sky. And then she was no more, just a few stragglers hurrying to catch up as darkness enveloped us.

And for a moment, sitting there in the gathering night, I was lost for words. Not so much for the splendour of the moment, although it was truly breath taking, but because the lady photographer next to me uttered an expression that I haven’t heard since I was a schoolboy. It appears that open toe sandals and sharp rocks aren’t a good combination.

Many thanks to Brian P and Sally A for a splendid evening and for introducing me to this location for the first time. Great company, great banter and a really tasty takeaway at the end. Oh wait, was it closed by the time you got there? 
